Ostrich Color Study

September 15, 2010

Missed posting yesterday so today I’m going to try and get two up.

Ostriches…you may be asking when I’m going to simply put their heads in the sand, and truth be told, I’m almost ready to do so. I wanted to try color on them, but I prefer them in black and white.

Absolutely brought a smile to my face today! I come from a family of three girls so I love things in triple! Beautiful and expressive, Penelope!!!

I like these, but agree that the black and white images of the ostriches are more evocative somehow. Great work, Pen!

Thanks, Lisa! I have so much more control in black and white…and the feathers, so fur like, are difficult.

I like them in triplets! I love the black and white sketches….and the color has its own charm.

Yeah, something gets lost in the color versions — I need many more years of practice.
