Illustration Friday—Cultivate
October 27, 2010
I read about four lion cubs being taught to do the lion-paddle at the National Zoo in Washington, DC. They’re eight weeks old but when they’re two will be moved to a habitat with water-filled moats. To be sure they don’t drown if they stumble into said moats, the zoo staff had to “cultivate” some innate talents by providing some gentle persuasion and a bit of nudging to ensure these wee kitty cats learn to swim. Watch the swimming lessons.

Adorable. Love the way you captured the underwater paws paddling. Delightful.
