Illustration Friday—Prehistoric

December 5, 2010

This post is dedicated to anyone who’s taken an intro to art history class. Remember the Venus of Willendorf? To me, she, along with cave art, is the epitome of “prehistoric” art. So, with her in mind, I envisioned her walking her “prehistoric” critters…dinosaurs, of course. Ok, maybe not, but thought it made for a fun illustration.

I saw the real “Venus of Willendorf” while living in Austria! Definitely a fun perspective!

Ah yes, the Venus of Willendorf. I remember her well! Yeah, she definitely looked like she wouldn’t take any grief from anyone! ha ha! Nice take on the prompt!

The first thing we saw in art history class lol…department chair taught it…for each test she showed you 200 slides (sometimes just sections) and the pics were often not in the text book. For the test she would pull 4 slides (which might be different from the slides she showed you) and you had to know the date, media, artist, location, size, and title. If you missed any of these parts the page you had to write analyzing the work didn’t count because ‘you clearly don’t know what you are talking about if you don’t even know the basics’…those were the days…I learned to love art history at some point though…great illustration and take on the theme…
