Old map makers used to always put a “warning” on their maps stating that beyond the end of the world there lived dragons. And it’s true, there are dragons there…
Of course a giraffe would stand on the edge of the world like that. It makes perfect sense.
This is great. I am left wanting to know what kind of conversation is going to happen between these three adventurers and the dragon.
My favorite details are the elephant nose getting to know the dragon’s face a little better, the dragon holding his own tail (either bashfully or slyly) and of course the way the giraffe is set up like a tripod all spread out and secure on the edge of the earth.
Hi Penelope. Thank you for your kind comment and I have to say… same to you. I like the thought behind your drawings and all of the things to discover when I click to enlarge. Your animals are magnificent.
Very cool! I’ve always wondered what was at the end of the world. 🙂 I always like your drawings.
Wow, what a wonderful drawing. Love the dragon underneath them. Makes it even more tantalizing!
Heisann! Yes, they were right and you are right, I know the Midgardsormen in the Norse mythology… living on the edge of the world ;:OD)
That is clearly the end of the world!

Character and charm: it’s full of it.
No wonder I haven’t seen any dragons lately. I haven’t traveled to the end of the world yet. That’s a really fun illustration!
Fantastic pencils! I love the idea.
Wow! Magnificent work Penelope! Love the poses and the layout! You are a master of linework!!
I’m such a fan…your drawings always have such movement to them!
Here be dragons! This is absolutely wicked!
Great expressions…and really like the fluidity of the dragon…
