Illustration Friday—Duet

April 6, 2011

Two bear meet two fish and all I can imagine is that they will break out in a joyous “duet“… make that a joyous double “duet.” I can pretend.

A beautiful pencil illustration, sadly for the fish fish I think its going to end in a double crunch

Ha. I love the cantankerous look of the fishes.

I think the big bear with a grip is just admiring the stripes. They look full and content to me.

Great rendering. I love the light, silky lines of the water. The flow of it feels right.

Oh gosh, no one sketches animals like you do…those wonderful, curvy lines! And I love how parts are very “sketchy” and then you zero in on the faces, especially the eyes. (and yes, that one fish does look a little cantankerous!) Lovely!!

HA! I love the expressions on the fish faces and the playfulness on the bear’s, as if they are just toying around with their food. Always a joy to view your wonderful work. Your style is such a unique marriage between reality with the slightest hand of caricature.

    Hi Penny,

I agree with everything that Sarah says!

Everything you draw is so soft, one just wants to pet them !
    The expressions are amazing!
Thanx for stopping by my blog! 🙂

Poor fishies!! They are too cute to be eaten!

Wonderful work, Penny. I love the way you make the water “move” in this and the expressions on all of the animals’ faces.

    Let’s get together soon, please!
