Illustration Friday—Launch

June 19, 2011

I know why the wiry mosquito buzzes…to torture.

With a wet May, the message went out to Mosquito Scourges everywhere: Go, Reproduce and Torture. Their goal: “launch” an attack on all—Buzz, Bite and Berate—make people insane. They are succeeding. I’ve tried “launching” my own attacks, but after 30 million years of evolution they’re winning. Though I wouldn’t call them meek, they shall inherit the earth.

Oh, HAhahahAHAHAHA…Penny you are a genius! LOL What fun–I adore this. Thank you so much for making my evening. As the weather warms, (finally) there will be mosquitos roughly the size of small airplanes filling the air. I’m sure they have just the look on their faces these fellows do. (guffaw)

Thank you for making my day, dear girl. You are such an amazing artist. So inspiring!

I think you’ve got their evil expressions down just right. I’ve got millions of their buddies in my yard too.

Oh wow! The drawing is amazing but then the story is so true and such a well connection! I recommend to fight back always, they are the most annoying, first the sound then the damage they leave! you know they are called “zanzare” in italian, think the sound of that fits them perfectly! zanzare! so mean! : 0

How creative is this? I swear, there’s not a creature that you cannot draw. You even made a vile mosquito look – dare I say it – kinda cute! A mosquito story book, perhaps?

  16. June 22, 2011 11:14 pm

…and they love launching and lunching on me! These critters are super villainous looking! Anthropomorphic skeeters! I love it!! And so well drawn…as usual!

Hi Penny, great character drawings as always. Love their varied impish expressions and lanky legs. You’ve managed to make my least favorite insect look adorable to me!

I just spent a week in the wilderness with more mosquitoes than I’ve ever seen. Ugh. I hate them. Speaking of hate tho, you know what I don’t hate? This art!

I love the character you can pack into a face.
