Illustration Friday—Mysterious I
September 3, 2011
Oh, but don’t you think the zebra defines “mysterious”?
Think about it. A horse with circumscribed stripes… At what point did “Mama Nature” orchestrate such a manifestation? Which came first: a horse of white with dark stripes or the other way around? A Gestalt secret solved only by unraveling then puzzling together the pieces. “Mama Nature” is giggling and only she, along with the zebra, knows what it all means.

You have SUCH a gift, my Friend! This fellow looks like a wise guy–I’d like to walk up to him and pet his soft nose. He has SO much personality.
As always your work amazes and thrills me. You are such an inspiration. ((hugs)) This, of course, fills my eyes.
WOW. Not only are you a phenomenal artist, your prose is astonishing. I am waiting for the next installment!!! AND I THINK MAMA NATURE was and IS having FUN. That’s what it’s all about…..Anita
I love the personality of the Zebra. He definitely has a secret. He’s laughing at me cause I’m sitting here trying to figure out the mystery of the stripes, and he’s going, if you only knew.
Very very graceful, as usual. I’m already expecting the next one.
Hey, my entry was all about nature’s mysteries too! (Sort of.)
If ontogeny accurately recapitulates phylogeny in this case, then the black zebra came first & white was added later. Or so I am told.
Lovely, expressive drawing! Wondering what comes next…
Another mysterious aspect about the stripes of the Zebra is that ‘Mummy Zebra’ recognizes her baby by his stripes, while to us they all look very much the same.
You Zebra has that sweet, melancholic Donkey-look.
Another professional drawing to enjoy!

I tried the Like- button, but it didn’t work for me. I like the Mysterious post ;:OD)
I love it, especially loving the softness of it and the expression. I feel like petting that zebra’s nose. I’m thinking the zebra came after the horse because it took more work for Mama Nature to paint stripes, right? But I just don’t know if she painted white or black stripes. Kind of boggles the mind, doesn’t it? 🙂
love your work, this zebra is whimsical! found you on the art blog hop
You always capture the soul of your critters through the eyes. So expressive! Nothing mysterious about your talent!! LOVE it!!!
Beautiful textures and color; and the true mystery is your amazing talent! 🙂
