Illustration Friday—Mysterious II

September 6, 2011

And then there’s always the other age old question: which came first the zebra or the horse? A “mysterious” question that only “Mama Nature” knows truly. But as Linda astutely observed, the horse came first. Where else would Mama paint her stripes? Which again takes us to unraveling the facts. Are the stripes black or white? And as Leah pointed out, if ontogeny accurately recapitulates phylogeny, we’ll then of course the stripes are white… Hmmmm.

And it’s here I send out thanks, many thanks to all those who weigh in on all my posts especially the last one: Illustration Friday—Mysterious I. Not to sound all gushy, but you guys rock! Thank you!

Oh those eyes again! I like the question of whether the stripes are black or white. This would definitely be a figure-ground exercise 😉 Another beauty, Penelope 🙂

I love the zebra series – black or white stripes, hmm an interesting question. An amazing artist, but also a wonderful writer… a joy to see these as they come in..
