Illustration Friday—Remedy (late)
July 9, 2011
Last week’s IF topic was “remedy” and I’m late. My apologies.
Ellie Mae’s a dog who enjoys the hunt and her “remedy” to summer’s scorchers is fishing the quarry. Those fish hover, taunting her like the Sirens who sang to Odysseus. But unlike the Greek adventurer, there is no wax in our hound’s ears and she indeed succumbs to seductive fish calls, mesmerized for hours. I can only imagine the conversation dog and fish have when I’m not watching.

I love your dog’s position and the intent look on her face.
Ohhh…what a good dog! This one could work for this week’s topic, too! Ellie Mae looks fascinated, but also looks to be exhibiting a LOT of self restraint! As ever, fab illustration!!!!!
This is so cute!
Wonderful illustration. 🙂
How FUN! lol What an adorable picture–and the story is wonderful. I wonder what they DO talk about? That would make a darling children’s book, you know. ((hugs))
I LOVE this–it just fills my eyes. I just have to say it again–you are an incredible artist–one of our lifetimes greatest. I mean that.
Wonderful piece!
Adorableness. Ellie Mae’s intent expression is priceless and I love the conversational poses. Just divine. Another one of my faves.
cute! I would love to know the conversation, too!!! probably taunting the dogs about their swimming style…hee!!! ( i have a chocolate lab, and he loves to swim)
My dear Penny, I have featured you on this week’s FATuesday Artist Spotlight. I am SO happy to know you, so inspired by your artwork, so delighted by the stories you tell with brush and pencil. ((hugs)) I truly believe you are one of the greatest artists I’ve ever known. You have such a wonderful whimsical quality about your work. I am just amazed.
Ellie Mae looks to have a great personality. Very, very nice pencil drawing.
It was worth waiting for. Really love this!
I don’t know if you all get replies to your comments when I leave them on my own blog, but you all rock! Thank you for your constant support. It’s inspiring! I try to visit all of you but sometimes it gets crazy. Again, you guys rock!
Awwww, any drawing with Ellie Mae is a hit with me, but this takes the cake. She looks so engrossed, and it’s as if she wants to organize games or start a chat with them. Does she actually ever catch them, or is fishing more of a spectator sport for her? Love the swirly round shape of the water anchoring the whole sketch.
