Illustration Friday—Swell
August 17, 2011
With over 113 years of weather, fire and a few too many Dark ‘n’ Stormies, not to mention sea levels rising and a constant “swell” of mighty waters, this ol’ yacht club is wobbling, slipping off her foundation. Elephants to the rescue—they’re strong, loyal and don’t mind getting their feet wet.
Watercolor sketch for a fundraising campaign to help this ol’ girl once again balance on sticks and stones.

What a great visual for the campaign…I have no doubt it will be very effective in raising TONS 😉 of funds for them! How clever and fun!
very cool. great technique.
Im glad to find your site. Your work is amazing indeed.
She draws, she watercolors, and she saves yacht clubs while she’s at it!! Seriously, Penny, you are such an amazing talent. You breathe such life into every piece you do. I would think that an imagined scene like this, utilizing an actual building, would be quite a challenge, but you make it look effortless. I hope the campaign is a success!
Hi Penelope, I love your animal drawings and this one’s no exception! So imaginative with the elephants. Good luck with the fundraiser!
Your humor makes me laugh–the way you see the world is so fun. Ah, you are so inspiring. Your artwork is the best of nearly all things. I mean that, my friend.
So lovely! Agree with all above! Animals to the rescue!
Are you working on a book?
You should!!
